State Senator Steve Livingston (R-Scottsboro), Majority Leader of the Alabama Senate, announced Senator Clyde Chambliss’s (R-Prattville) reappointment as Majority Whip of the Alabama Senate.
According to an official release, Sen. Livingston sent a letter formalizing the announcement of Senator Chambliss’s reappointment as Majority Whip after Senators convened in Birmingham for an organizational session to establish Senate leadership and committee assignments earlier this month.
Livingston was elected as Majority Leader by the Caucus in October, succeeding Senator Clay Scofield (R-Guntersville), who stepped down from the role to serve as the Business Council of Alabama’s (BCA) Executive Vice President.
“Senator Chambliss is an effective leader who has proven his ability to guide significant legislation the Senate has passed over his tenure,” said Senator Livingston.

“His strategic thinking and political insight have garnered the trust of our caucus members, and he is an incredible asset to our party and the people of Alabama. I trust his judgement and abilities and look forward to standing with him to deliver results to all Alabamians through important legislation in the future.”

Sen. Chambliss was elected to the Senate in 2014, representing all or parts of Autauga, Chilton, Coosa, Elmore, and Tallapoosa Counties.

As Majority Whip, Senator Chambliss continue assisting the Majority Leader and Senate President Pro Tempore Greg Reed in the management of the Senate floor, ensuring member participation, counting votes, and generally advancing the position of the Senate Majority, according to the official announcement.
