Secretary of State hopeful Wes Allen endorsed by Business Council of Alabama

State Rep. Wes Allen’s (R-Troy) bid for Alabama Secretary of State has earned the endorsement of ProgressPAC, the political arm of the Business Council of Alabama (BCA).

Allen was elected to the legislature in 2018 to serve House District 89. The lawmaker formerly served as probate judge of Pike County, where he oversaw 18 elections. Allen holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama and a graduate degree from Troy University.

In a release announcing the endorsement, ProgressPAC chairman Kevin Savoy touted Allen’s conservative, pro-growth voting record he had compiled as a member of the legislature’s lower chamber.

“Representative Allen has proven to be a committed supporter of growing jobs and cutting burdensome government red tape throughout his time in office,” said Savoy. “We look forward to his leadership and commitment to ensuring that the Secretary of State’s Office continues to operate at the speed of business in the coming years. His proven track record and experience in administering the election process will be an asset in overseeing our elections at the state level.”

BCA’s endorsement of Allen’s candidacy adds to the growing list of key organizations that are backing the secretary of state hopeful. Allen has also been endorsed by the Alabama Forestry Association, the Alabama Farmers Federation and Manufacture Alabama.

The primary election will occur on May 24, 2022.
