U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) is sounding the alarm about the dangers of Democrats winning the majority in Congress after the midterm elections.

The Democratic Party is hoping it will retake the majority in the U.S. House and Senate after the 2026 midterm elections with the help of Democratic Socialists who have won several primaries across the country this year.

Aderholt discussed the issue Friday on “The Rightside” with Allison Sinclair and Amie Beth Shaver, in partnership with Yellowhammer News.

Sinclair asked the congressman what his message is to voters who need a reason to show up in November. Aderholt said it comes down to whether they want the Trump agenda to survive.

“If you support the policies of Trump, you support the Republicans, then if the Democrats are elected and they control either the House or the Senate — doesn’t have to be both — then it will pretty much come to screeching halt all the policies that President Trump wants to do because Hakeem Jeffries or whoever the speaker is, if they get control, will just sit on the Trump policies,” Aderholt said.

“And while they may not get their policies through because the Senate would have to agree with it and the president will have to sign it, it still would be any policies or anything the president wants to do legislatively is not going to happen.”

The congressman said it won’t take much to flip the majority, which is why voter turnout will be so crucial in November.

“People ask me all the time: Are the Republicans going to hold the House, and what’s going to happen? I mean, quite honestly, it’s not going to take a wave election for the Democrats to take control of the House. So every vote is going to be so important in this in this upcoming election. And so you know, it’s usually what you worry about when there’s a wave of you know that people are very very disenchanted and they’re upset.”

“And you know, of course, being here in Alabama, I mean, we come from a state where most people are very supportive of President Trump and his policies,” he continued. “But I do know there’s other states that maybe not so much, and so. But at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if you elect somebody from, you know, where it’s Massachusetts or California or Alabama or Mississippi, the number of representatives you have in control, it will be what controls the day and who who gets the power. Unlike the Senate, you know, which has obviously majority is important, but having that 60 vote rule is what is even even more important because of the filibuster.”

According to The Economist, Democrats have a 92% chance of flipping the House and a 59% chance to taking the Senate.

Aderholt closed the interview with the date circled: “We’ll of course just encourage everybody, get to vote on November 3.”
