State Rep. Rex Reynolds (R-Huntsville) has been reelected to Alabama House District 21, defeating Democratic nominee Forrest Satterfield in a tight race.
According to unofficial election-night results from the Alabama Secretary of State, Reynolds received 51.4% of the vote compared to 48.6% for Satterfield, a 2.8% margin.
Reynolds, a former Huntsville police chief and city administrator, was first elected to the Legislature in a March 2018 special election, and currently serves as the chairman of the House General Fund Budget Committee.
Reynolds campaigned heavily on fighting against crime while also expanding economic opportunity in the state. The House passed the 2026 General Fund budget 104-0 under his chairmanship.
Reynolds also joined Alabama Speaker of the House Nathaniel Ledbetter (R-Rainsville) and Senate President Pro Tem Garlan Gudger (R-Cullman) announcing at Star Supermarket in Huntsville last month that full and permanent repeal of the tax will be a day-one priority when the Legislature convenes for the 2027 session.
