Alabama’s international automakers continued to expand their economic footprint last year, supporting more than 105,000 jobs, investing $15.6 billion in the state and producing every vehicle built in Alabama, according to a new industry report.

The 2026 Economic Impact Report, released by Autos Drive America and the American International Automobile Dealers Association, found that international automakers, dealers and suppliers supported 105,806 jobs across Alabama while paying $8.3 billion in employee compensation. The report also found international automakers invested $15.6 billion in Alabama’s auto industry and produced 1,163,956 vehicles in 2025, accounting for all vehicle production in the state.

“Alabama has become one of the most important manufacturing hubs for international automakers in America,” said Jennifer Safavian, president and CEO of Autos Drive America. “Our members have invested $15.6 billion in Alabama’s auto industry. Trade volatility created real headwinds for our industry in 2025, but our members’ steadfast commitment to Alabama cushioned that impact for the workers and communities who depend on this industry. Without it, the picture here would look very different.”

The report highlights the impact of Alabama’s international automotive manufacturers, including Honda, Hyundai, Mazda Toyota Manufacturing, Mercedes-Benz and Toyota.

According to the report, Alabama plants exported 21 vehicle models to 36 countries and territories in 2025, reflecting the state’s growing role in supplying vehicles to markets around the world.

Autos Drive America and AIADA publish the report annually to measure the economic impact of international automakers and dealers across the country. The 2026 edition includes data from manufacturers such as BMW, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Subaru, Toyota, Volkswagen Group and Volvo Cars.
