Rep. Palmer: Trump-Biden election ‘won’t be close’ if those who want ‘domestic peace and prosperity’ vote

While many national polls show a presidential election contest between Donald Trump and Joe Biden tightening, most polls still have Biden ahead. That’s given many political watchers license to anticipate Biden will win on November 3.

However, U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) does not see it as a foregone conclusion that the presidential election is going for Biden. In fact, he says he is unsure the outcome between Trump and Biden will be close.

During a Wednesday interview with Mobile radio’s FM Talk 106.5, Palmer said — while noting that a relatively high percentage of Evangelical Christians don’t vote — that it could go big for Trump if voter turnout is increased among that voting bloc.

“I don’t know that it will be close,” Palmer said. “And it won’t be close if people who want to see the country prosper again, and want to see peace — domestic peace and prosperity for the country — will make sure they’re registered to vote, and go out and vote.”

“I did an interview that will air on the Trinty Broadcast Network in the next week or so, talking about the fact there is probably 40-45% of Evangelical Christians who don’t bother to vote,” he continued. “That’s unconscionable that people would allow our nation to be overtaken and run by some of the people you saw on the Democrat stage last week. I don’t think that’s who we are as a nation. I don’t think it is who we want to be as a nation.”

Palmer argued that the nation is defined by some of the speakers at this week’s Republican National Convention.

“What you saw last night with Daniel Cameron and the other night with Tim Scott, and [Maximo] Alvarez, the Cuban-American I mentioned earlier, and last night with Melania Trump and people making fun of her accent — the lady speaks five languages. She has a degree in architecture. She’s brilliant. You think about that — there are millions of people who speak with an accent in this country. There’s some people who accuse me of having an accent, a southern accent. That’s who we are. You’re not an American because you were born here or you’ve got special blood flowing through your veins. You’re an American by what you believe. And that’s why Melania Trump is as much an American as you and I are. It is what she believes. It is what we believe together, and that’s what is going to determine our future.”
