Rep. Jerry Carl: Reflecting on Holy Week

Palm Sunday marked the beginning of Holy Week. For those of us who are Christians, this week is a good time to slow down, spend time with family, and reflect on the ultimate sacrifice Jesus made for all of us.

Easter is a cornerstone of our Christian faith, commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It begins with the events leading up to Jesus’ crucifixion. On the third day after his death, which is celebrated as Easter Sunday, Jesus rose from the dead, appearing to his followers and proving his victory over death.

This miraculous event symbolizes redemption, forgiveness, and the promise of eternal life for us believers. The Easter story serves as a reminder of the profound sacrifice Jesus made for us and the hope it brings to millions around the world.

Easter is not just a holiday, it’s a chance to remember how much Jesus loves us and how He gave His life for us. It’s a time where we can spread the love of Christ by lending a hand to those in need, showing empathy towards the less fortunate, and forgiving those who have wronged us. This season reminds us to look beyond ourselves and embrace the spirit of selflessness and love that Christ showed throughout His life.

We are so blessed to live in a country where we are free to worship how we please. My prayer is that you join me in remembering the words of John 11:25, Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live.”

No matter what’s going on, Easter is always about starting fresh, feeling renewed, and finding new meaning in our faith. Even when our world is upside down, God’s love and mercy never fade. Jesus’ victory over death means that no matter what challenges we face, his light shines through. Today, let’s take a moment to pray for the strength of our country and its people. Together, let us rejoice knowing that He is risen!

Happy Easter from my family to yours!
