Ray Scott, known as the “godfather” of modern bass fishing and a native of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away in 2022 at the age of 88.
Shortly after Scott’s passing, the idea of a show around his vision for the beginning of a national bass tournament trail began to emerge:

Scott’s determination led to the formation of the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society (B.A.S.S.) and the earliest version of what is now professional bass fishing and Bassmaster.
The first episode of The Cast aired over the weekend on FS1, but you can still watch it here on the Bassmaster website.

The episode dives into his invention of what is still considered to be the Super Bowl of the sport: The Bassmaster Classic.
With attendance regularly surpassing 100,000 each year, the Classic Outdoors Expo has remained one of the top venues for manufacturers to introduce new products to professionals and hobbyists alike.
For anyone interested in the sport of bass fishing or the life of Ray Scott, certainly the most important person in the long journey towards making it into a commercialized sport, The Cast is worth checking out.
