Pruitt hired as teacher/coach at Alabama high school

Former Tennessee head football coach Jeremy Pruitt is making a return to his Alabama roots as a physical education teacher. Pruitt was fired by UT in 2021 over widespread NCAA violations.

He’s a graduate of his new employer, Plainview High School in Rainsville, where he also was an assistant football coach under his father, Dale Pruitt. This time, he’s going back to school as a junior high basketball coach.

Knoxville’s WVLT was the first to report that Pruitt has been was employed at Plainview High School in Rainsville.

Last month, it was reported that Pruitt’s wife also joined the school’s staff as a reading/math intervention teacher.

This is not Pruitt’s first time stepping into the role of a teacher. During the early 2000s, he coached at Willis Valley Elementary School and Fort Payne High School.

Less than 10 years after his PE days were over, Pruitt found himself coaching defensive backs at the University of Alabama.

A few years later, in 2018, he became the head coach at Tennessee, where it appears his career peaked.
