Now we know why Lana Del Rey was in Alabama

The mystery surrounding singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey’s surprise appearance behind the counter at a Florence Waffle House last week is now less mysterious.

“Thank you Lana for recording and hanging out with the Muscle Shoals Sound crew. History continues to be made in 2023 for the Muscle Shoals Sound Studio,” the studio wrote on Facebook.

Del Rey first advertised her connection with the state in the song “Paris, Texas” when she sang about going “to see some friends of mine, down in Florence, Alabama.”

The singer showed up unannounced at various locations in Florence, Russellville, and other parts of the Shoals area.

North Alabama is home to musical history as the birthplace for the Muscle Shoals Sound Studio.

Founded in 1969 by four session musicians known as The Swampers, Muscle Shoals Sound Studio, located in Sheffield has been a magnet for legendary artists like Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, and The Rolling Stones.
