Late last week, President Donald Trump announced his nomination for U.S. Ambassador to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in a social media post.

Alabama businesswoman and former 2022 gubernatorial candidate Lynda “Lindy” Blanchard of Montgomery received the nomination and will now be considered by the Senate for confirmation.

This is Blanchard’s second nomination from President Trump. In 2018, Trump chose her to serve as U.S. Ambassador to Slovenia, and the Senate confirmed her nomination in 2019.

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger. Its goal is to achieve food security for all and ensure that people have regular access to enough high-quality food to lead active, healthy lives.
