Palmer ‘very concerned’ about terrorists crossing the border

U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer is sounding the alarm about a possible national security threat from those coming into the country illegally.

Last week, former Speaker Kevin McCarthy said the Hamas terrorist attack in Israel should be a “wake-up” call to the U.S. about the potential threat from terrorists crossing the southern border.

Palmer (R-Hoover) echoed McCarthy’s views Monday on WVNN’s “The Yaffee Program.”

“There’s millions of people that have gotten into the country, probably well over a million that we don’t know who they are, that weren’t detained, they classify them as gotaways,” Palmer said. “We have apprehended over 200 that we know have some connection to terrorist organizations. There’s over 3,000 Chinese nationals in the country. I’m very concerned.”

According to reports, thousands of “special interest aliens” from Middle East countries have been stopped at the border since 2021.

“I think this is one of those times when all of you guys in the media need to be emphasizing again if you see something say something,” Palmer said.

The congressman said, however, there’s not much Congress can do to secure the border because Democrats control the Senate and presidency.

“The only way the situation at the border is going to change is when we change who is in the White House and who is in control of the Senate and we’ve got to maintain control of the house,” he said. “It’s the administration that’s making these decisions…if it was just up to us we would have shut it down day one. People have got to understand that who you vote for matters.”

Palmer said President Biden isn’t just weak when it comes to securing the border, but also shows weakness on the world stage.

“This whole thing I think started with the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan,” he said,” which the military didn’t handle that. That was run by the State Department. And it’s just one foreign policy disaster after another.”
