According to the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH), one case of measles has been confirmed in an infant in St. Clair County.
WBRC reported that ADPH made the announcement Thursday after the department the day previous said there had been no confirmed cases of measles out of 174 closed investigations. ADPH still reportedly had 32 open investigations on Wednesday.

Experts at UAB have also been on the alert regarding the disease, which has been sweeping the nation. The CDC last week advised that the number of confirmed cases of measles across the country this year had risen to 704, which marks the worst year for measles since 1994 less than five months into 2019.
