MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Legendary NFL quarterback Peyton Manning will be the keynote speaker at the Business Council of Alabama’s 2016 Chairman’s Dinner on September 21 in Birmingham.

The Chairman’s Dinner is an annual event that honors the investors of the Carrying the Flag for Business Campaign, the fundraising campaign of BCA’s non-partisan political arm, ProgressPAC. The dinner also recognizes the significant volunteer work throughout the year of the chairman of BCA’s board of directors. Former keynote speakers at the dinner include Rob O’Neill, the Navy SEAL who shot and killed Osama Bin Laden, and former Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush.

“Peyton Manning is one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game,” said BCA Chairman Tommy Lee, president and CEO of Vulcan, Inc. “He is one of the most respected athletes in the world, and we are honored to welcome him to Alabama to hear his unique views and experiences on leadership both on and off the field.”

From being the number one overall pick in the 1998 NFL Draft through his retirement this year, Peyton Manning scorched the record books and distinguished himself as arguably the best quarterback of his generation. His many on-field achievements throughout his 18 NFL seasons include Super Bowl Champion (XLI, 50), Super Bowl MVP (XLI), NFL-record five MVP awards and 14 Pro Bowl selections. Manning holds NFL career records in wins, passing yards and touchdown passes.

Manning played 14 seasons with the Indianapolis Colts and four with the Denver Broncos, and he was the only starting quarterback to win a Super Bowl with two different franchises.

In 1999, Manning established the PeyBack Foundation, which has provided more than $10 million in aid to at-risk youth in Louisiana, Tennessee, and Indiana. For his work with this foundation, Manning received the Samuel S. Beard Award for Greatest Public Service by an Individual 35 Years or Under, an award given out annually by Jefferson Awards.
