Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas testified Wednesday at a House Judiciary Committee hearing on the southern border.
U.S. Rep. Barry Moore, who sits on the committee, criticized Mayorkas during the hearing.
The American people are tired of apologies — they want action.
Under the watch of Secretary Mayorkas, our border has been wide open, and his only solution is to claim that it isn't. That is unacceptable, and it puts Americans in danger. @JudiciaryGOP pic.twitter.com/8XEG0VKJP6

“I’m certainly appalled at what’s happening at the southern border and I know my constituents are too,” Moore (R-Enterprise) said to Mayorkas. “Your border policies make every state a border state.”
The congressman talked about a family in his district who faced tragedy because of the border crisis.
“I know a family who has personally been suffering the consequences of your actions,” He said to Mayorkas. “In my district … Autauga County Sheriff Department arrested … a 29-year-old illegal alien from Honduras for the rape of a teenage girl in Prattville Alabama in a restaurant.”
Mayorkas said he was sorry to hear about the victim of the rape in Alabama, but Moore hit back saying an apology isn’t good enough for his constituents.
“We’ve been apologizing to a lot of people for a long time,” Moore said. “We’re continuing to apologize to parents for losing their children to fentanyl, for people getting raped in restrooms, for DUIs and people who are killing people with cars who have no driver’s license.
“And I understand the apologies, but my people, the constituents in this country, are getting tired of apologies and they want action.”
Moore said the Biden administration is directly responsible for making the immigration problem in the country worse.
“This administration has created two things on the southern border,” he said, “drug mules and human trafficking. And it’s the policies of this administration.”
Before the hearing, Moore called for the DHS secretary to be removed from his position.
Secretary Mayorkas has failed to faithfully execute the law.
It's time to impeach him. https://t.co/Zu8xQa44aW
