Police are currently investigating three separate crimes that occurred within a few hours of each other on Memorial Day in Montgomery, with the La Moraleja ice cream store being one of them — for the second time in two months.
Police arrived just after 10:00 a.m. to the 600 block of Charles Street in response to a shooting report which left one man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, while the ice cream store was robbed just an hour later.
Reports said the robber was armed and fired a shot into the floor of La Moraleja and fled the scene with no injuries.
Employees of the store recounted the fact that just over a month ago, a group of armed robbers came into the store and did the same thing.
“They have us timed, they know what time we get off, they know when we have a lot of people and we’re busy,” an anonymous employee told WSFA News.
Just hours after the robbery, a stabbing was reported in the area of Mildred Street and Mobile Street where a man was taken to the hospital with a life threatening injury. A woman was also killed in a Sunday afternoon in a double shooting on the 900 block of South Union Street, downtown, just blocks away from the Alabama State Capitol.
To this point, no arrests have been made and no other information is available.
