Mobile is set to become a main destination for American Cruise Lines beginning in March 2026. City officials confirmed this week that the port will host the American Symphony as part of a new Gulf Coast Cruise itinerary.
The eight-day voyage departs from New Orleans and ends in Pensacola, featuring stops along several coastal cities. The American Symphony is scheduled to arrive in Mobile on Day 6 of the itinerary, with four stops planned in the city throughout March. Each visit is expected to bring about 180 passengers who will have the opportunity to explore Mobile’s culinary, cultural, and historic attractions.
“We are very excited to be a Port of Call for the American Symphony, and we look forward to welcoming its passengers to explore all of what Mobile has to offer,” said Mayor Sandy Stimpson. “American Cruise Lines focuses on the unique culture, history, and cuisine of coastal cities, and Mobile has those in spades. It’s a perfect fit, and we’re very excited about this new partnership.”

American Cruise Lines, a U.S.-based company known for smaller, luxury vessels, designs its cruises to offer guests immersive experiences in the cities they visit. During its stops in Mobile, the American Symphony will dock behind the National Maritime Museum.
“We are especially pleased to be visiting Mobile along our newest U.S. itinerary,” said Eric Dussault, Director of Port Development & Construction at American Cruise Lines. “The 2026 cruises will visit Mobile four times, and our small, U.S.-flagged ships will dock behind the National Maritime Museum. We look forward to exploring the local attractions with our guests and visiting Mobile for many years to come.”
One highlight of the 2026 cruise season will occur on March 22, when both the American Symphony and the Carnival Spirit will be docked in Mobile at the same time. This milestone comes amid a series of advancements for Mobile’s tourism and cruise infrastructure.
Earlier this month, the city marked the installation of a new $4.8 million state-of-the-art gangway at the Mobile, Alabama, Cruise Terminal. This addition is expected to improve the boarding experience for Carnival passengers when the Carnival Spirit returns for seasonal sailings in October 2025.
In another major development, Carnival Cruise Lines announced plans to resume year-round service from Mobile in 2027, restoring 12-month cruise operations to the Port City for the first time in five years.
