Mike Rogers on anniversary of Afghanistan Withdrawal: ‘Weakness and chaos will be the legacy of the Biden-Harris administration’

U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Saks) marked the three year anniversary of the disastrous withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan by blasting the foreign policy record of the Biden-Harris Administration.

“In 2021, President Biden and Vice President Harris publicly set an arbitrary deadline to complete the United States’ withdrawal from Afghanistan,” Rogers said. “The Biden-Harris administration’s arbitrary deadline was fueled by craven politics and unnecessarily put Americans in danger. Congress and senior military officials warned that a rushed and unconditional withdrawal would lead to disaster. Unfortunately, the Biden-Harris administration ignored these warnings.”

Earlier this year, the Taliban held a military parade at Bagram airbase in Middle Eastern country, showing off the high tech military equipment left behind by the U.S. military.

Rogers, chairman of the House Armed Service Committee, said the current chaos in the Middle East is the direct result of decisions made by the Biden-Harris administration.

“Make no mistake, our nation is less safe today because of the Biden-Harris administration’s catastrophic withdrawal,” he said. “Conflict in the Middle East has escalated to historic levels, including hundreds of attacks on U.S. servicemembers. Our adversaries in the Middle East are no longer deterred. The disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal was one of the first signals of weakness from the Biden-Harris administration to our adversaries in the region. Weakness and chaos will be the legacy of the Biden-Harris administration.”

The Congressman also reacted to a report by the U.S. Inspector General about the failures of the Gaza Pier, a Biden-Harris Administration strategy to deliver aid to civilians in Gaza while Israel defends itself against Hamas in the region.

“The USAID IG report confirms my concerns that the Biden-Harris administration charged ahead with the Gaza pier operation against better judgement and without a plan,” he argued. “As a result of the Biden-Harris administration’s ineptitude, U.S. servicemembers were injured, taxpayer dollars were wasted, and several U.S. vessels were so damaged they can’t even return to the U.S. on their own. The Biden-Harris administration had every chance to stop this slow-motion train wreck and chose instead to appease the Pro-Hamas Left.”
