Mathis lashes out at four Ala. congressional opponents in negative radio ad

Dr. Chad Mathis, Republican candidate for U.S. House in Alabama’s 6th Congressional District, today released a radio ad going after four of his opponents for what his campaign refers to as “their sins on conservatism.”

Mathis has dubbed Sen. Scott Beason, businessman Will Brooke, Rep. Paul DeMarco, and former think tank president Gary Palmer “The Gang of Four.”

Mathis’ campaign says they are spending over $10,000 on the radio ad, which you can stream using the Soundcloud widget embedded above.

Even though pretty much every candidate claims they will run a positive campaign, the truth is, negative ads have a history of working. One independent study found that over 90 percent of ads during the 2012 presidential campaign were negative.

What do you think of Mathis’ ad? Is it effective?
