Manufacturer brings first North American plant to Montgomery, creating 90 jobs

Mountain Top Industries on Wednesday announced their expansion into the U.S. market with the opening of a 73,000 square-foot manufacturing facility in Montgomery.

The company, headquartered in Denmark, is an international leader in manufacturing aluminum roll covers for pickup trucks.

The new state-of-the-art facility, located along I-85 in Montgomery Industrial Park, will include $13.3 million in capital investment and support 90 full time jobs. This is Mountain Top’s first North American production facility.

A press conference was held at the facility on Wednesday, featuring the likes of Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed, Montgomery County Commission Chairman Elton Dean and chairman of the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce Committee of 100, Russ Tyner.

“On behalf of Mountain Top Industries, we are very excited to announce the opening of our 73,000 square-foot facility in Montgomery,” stated Henrik Petersen, the company’s CEO. “Mountain Top is a leading global manufacturer of aluminum roll covers designed and branded specifically for our automotive OEM pickup truck customers. We are incredibly grateful for the amount of support we have received from both state and local officials in making this project a reality and will work hard on making it a success for our valued customers, employees, suppliers and local community. “

The automotive supplier will support Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama’s new vehicle line — the Santa Cruz pickup truck.

Chairman Dean said in a statement, “We are honored to add Mountain Top to the great companies located in this beautiful park. Not only will Mountain Top be providing new well-paying jobs, they will supply Hyundai Motor Manufacturing for the exciting new Santa Cruz pickup program.”

Mayor Reed commented, “Mountain Top has 40 years of experience in the automotive industry and the new Montgomery facility will be an addition to existing production facilities in Europe and Asia. We are very honored that we have been selected as Mountain Top’s first North American plant.”

“We are sure this will be the first of many OEM customers in North America. We understand that the Montgomery plant is a big commitment by Mountain Top and we stand ready to support them in every way,” he added.

“The Chamber is so proud to expand the number of international companies locating here in Montgomery,” concluded Arthur DuCote, Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce chairman. “To have a leading global manufacturer choose our community for their first ever North American facility speaks volumes about what Montgomery has to offer. We are excited to welcome Mountain Top to Montgomery and make them part of our growing community.”
