Alabama House Speaker Mike Hubbard raised $91,700 for his re-election campaign during the month of November, giving him over $250,000 cash on hand, according to campaign finance reports filed with the Alabama Secretary of State on Tuesday.

Business heavyweights like Federal Express, Boeing and NBC Universal donated alongside Alabama residents from around the state and locally in Hubbard’s Lee County House district.

But one name stuck out from the rest: Gus Malzhan.

The Auburn University head football coach donated $500, making him Hubbard’s largest individual contributor for the month of November.

“Just as Coach Malzahn has worked hard to turn Auburn’s football program around, he recognizes that we are working hard in Montgomery to put Alabama on the right track,” Hubbard told Yellowhammer. “I appreciate that he had an extra second to make a contribution to my campaign. I value my personal friendship with Gus and Kristi.”
