Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell’s heroic story has been told to audiences in theaters all across the country through the movie Lone Survivor. His book by the same name became a New York Times bestseller. And soon, Alabamians will have the opportunity to hear him tell his story in person.
On November 14, Luttrell will bring his “Patriot Tour” to Tuscaloosa’s Bama Theatre.
“For his Patriot Tour, Marcus Luttrell presents an inspiring live stage experience and evening filled with stories only he can tell,” the tour said in a release. “Whether it’s been rebuilding his life with the help of his wife and children, honoring the sacrifice of his fallen brothers in his best-selling book and movie Lone Survivor, or supporting charities and foundations focused on helping returning veterans, Marcus Luttrell has never walked away from a challenge.”
In addition to Luttrell, Patriot Tour includes several other special guests.
Taya Kyle, the widow of former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, who’s commonly referred to as the deadliest sniper in American history, and Navy SEAL David Goggins will also be speaking at the event, and original music will be performed by retired SEAL Pete Scobell.
The Alabama event will be particularly meaningful for the local crowd, as Tuscaloosa native and University of Alabama graduate Chad Fleming will be sharing his remarkable story.
Captain Fleming has been wounded in combat on three separate occasions (gunshot wounds and hand grenades). He has undergone over 23 surgeries, which would later result in a transtibial amputation of his left leg. He has deployed twice since his injuries and both times he chose to go back to the same unstable area of Iraq that cost him his leg. After serving with distinction and receiving numerous awards and decorations including the Bronze Star, Captain Fleming retired from active duty but he still remains a vital part of the 75th Ranger Regiment.
The Patriot Tour will be held at the Bama Theatre at 600 Greensboro Avenue, Tuscaloosa, Ala., on November 14, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices range from $40.00 – $75.00 and a limited number of exclusive VIP tickets are available for $250.00.
