List of nation’s fastest growing private companies features 73 from Alabama

Inc. Magazine has published the 2020 version of its annual, prestigious list of the 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in America.

The list is compiled based on median growth over the past three years.

This year’s Inc. 5000 featured 73 Alabama companies, spanning from Tanner-based Redline Steel (ranked at 110 with 3,216% growth) to Huntsville’s Yellowhammer Brewing (ranked 4,929 with 57% growth).

Other well-known examples include Chicken Salad Chick, which is based in Auburn. This emerging restaurant chain was ranked at 1,249, experiencing 359% growth.

One Yellowhammer State company specifically featured by Inc. with its own write-up was Two Maids & a Mop, which is based in Birmingham.

Spartan Value Investors, also located in the Magic City, was also given its own feature article by the publication, as was Rocket City-based Torch Technologies.

Companies ranged from Birmingham’s Oakworth Capital Bank making its fourth appearance on the list to first-time honorees such as WordSouth, which is based out of Rainsville and provides marketing services to rural electric cooperatives and telecommunication companies.

“The companies on this year’s Inc. 5000 come from nearly every realm of business,” stated Inc. editor-in-chief Scott Omelianuk. “From health and software to media and hospitality, the 2020 list proves that no matter the sector, incredible growth is based on the foundations of tenacity and opportunism.”
