Johnny Manziel to appear at 3rd annual VitAL Alabama conference

Tuscaloosa is set to receive a well-known visitor next week when the 3rd annual VitAL Alabama conference comes to the college town. The event, hosted by the University of Alabama, the Alabama Department of Mental Health (ADMH), and the National Association for Rural Mental Health (NARMH), will feature legendary Texas A&M QB and Heisman winner Johnny Manziel.

Manziel, who will be the featured speaker, became a vocal advocate for mental health causes after his pro career was cut short largely due to both substance abuse and personal issues.

The former star QB, is infamously known in Tuscaloosa for leading his Aggies to a win over the Tide in Tuscaloosa as a freshman in 2012.

According to organizers, the conference is meant for “physicians, certified registered nurse practitioners, certified nurse midwives, physician assistants, pharmacists, dentists, social workers, counselors, educators, and first responders, as well as any professionals eager to gain insights into mental illness and substance use disorders.”

The event will be held at the Bryant Conference Center on August 26 and 27. It begins at 8:30 A.M. on Monday and costs $125 for the full two days, which includes breakfast/lunch both days & up to 11 continued education credits.
