A prominent gun rights activist believes that Former U.S. Navy Seal Jared Hudson is the best man to protect Alabamians’ Second Amendment rights in the U.S. Senate.
Kyle Rittenhouse announced on social media Monday that he’s supporting Hudson for the open Senate seat against U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise).
“I know firsthand how quickly the right to self-defense can become the most important right you have. After everything I went through, I’m committed to standing up for law-abiding Americans and their Second Amendment freedoms,” Rittenhouse said. “That is why I am proud to stand with [JaredHudson] for in his race for the US Senate in Alabama.”
Rittenhouse gained national attention after being charged with fatally shooting two individuals amid civil unrest in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The incident started a debate over guns laws in the country, with many on the left accusing the teen of murder. Rittenhouse was eventually acquitted of all the charges in the case.
“Hudson will not be just another Republican who talks tough and quietly falls in line. He is a real fighter who knows the Constitution, stands with gun owners, and will not back down when the Second Amendment is under attack,” Rittenhouse continued. “Alabama deserves a hardline conservative and a true Second Amendment champion. That’s why Jared Hudson is endorsed by BamaCarry and the National Association for Gun Rights.”
Hudson’s opponent actually created some controversy surrounding the Rittenhouse case in 2020 during his campaign for Congress. Moore posted a meme showing two unarmed victims of mob violence from earlier this summer, followed by a picture of Rittenhouse carrying a firearm. He later took down the post and apologized.
“I’m especially troubled that a young man felt compelled to take up arms to protect lives and property in Kenosha against a violent mob that was actively threatening to ‘burn it down,’” Moore said at the time.
“I have full confidence in the justice system to determine the rightness or wrongness of Kyle Rittenhouse’s actions, as well as those officers involved in Jacob Blake’s shooting. I also hope that those arrested in Kenosha for their part in the rioting receive the same level of justice from the courts for their actions.”
