Kiffin in Tuscaloosa: Recruiting? Trolling?

In the coaching world, none are nearly as active on social media as Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin.

In the days since Nick Saban announced his retirement after 17 years leading the program, a mass exodus of players has ensued. This is due in large measure to a new NCAA rule allowing for an extra 30-day window for players to enter the transfer portal if their coach leaves the university.

Wednesday was the worst day yet for Alabama, losing star freshmen Caleb Downs and Kadyn Proctor, with more bad news likely to come.

In the thick of Alabama’s tough day, Kiffin was seemingly in town, adding fuel to the fire.

Of course, it’s entirely possible that Kiffin was simply passing through Tuscaloosa on a separate recruiting trip — or might’ve had someone else send him the photos.

Either way, it’s a not-so-quiet jab at Alabama while the program is at its lowest point in recent history.

It’s no secret that Kiffin wanted the job at Alabama — and if you read into his posts over the past week — it doesn’t seem like he’s really trying to hide it either.

After being passed over in favor of former University of Washington head coach Kalen DeBoer, Kiffin sure is letting Alabama know how he feels about it.

Kiffin never beat Nick Saban in his career. But with Ole Miss in better shape than ever during Kiffin’s tenure, the Rebels have a great chance to compete for an SEC title in 2024.
