Katie Britt featured at grocery store calling for balanced budget in campaign spot

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Katie Britt released a memo last week outlining how she would legislatively address issues relating to the national debt and the size of government as Alabama’s junior senator.

One of her proposed measures in the memo was a bill stripping Congress of their pay unless the budget is balanced.

Thursday, Britt released a 30-second advertisement that will run on television and a 60-second version of the video that will play on digital platforms.

The 30-second spot titled “No Balanced Budget, No Paycheck,” features Britt shopping for groceries as she explains how inflation is hurting Alabama families.

Watch:

“Shopping for a family is never easy,” Britt says in the ad. “Everyone wants something different. But no one wants Joe Biden and the Democrats jacking up prices even more. Biden’s bad decisions are costing Alabama families $5,000 a year. Well, I’m not going to take it. If Washington politicians don’t balance the budget, they shouldn’t get paid.”

The video then quickly goes to Britt’s husband Wesley.

“Phew, when she talks like that, something’s about to get done,” Wesley quips.

In a release announcing the ad, Britt said “Joe Biden’s radical agenda and bad decisions are costing hardworking Alabamians and retirees every single trip to the grocery store. In the Senate, I’ll fight to make America energy independent again, end the reckless spending that’s fueling inflation, and put more money back in the pockets of Alabama families in every corner of our great state. If Washington politicians can’t even get the most basic part of their jobs right, they shouldn’t get a dime of taxpayer money.”
