“Democratic Socialism,” aka Communism, has been the dominating political story as of late, not just on the Left, but across the entire political landscape. Many are concerned over the rise of this radical leftist ideology that hasn’t just picked up steam, but rather is churning full speed ahead and running over everyone who stands in its path.
What once was deemed as a shameful and silly platform by both political parties is now starting to become the main talking point of the Democratic Party. With the rise of Zohran Mamdani, AOC, amongst other self-proclaimed “Democratic Socialists”, the Democratic Party is no longer that of your father or grandfather. Instead, it is that of the USSR.
First, let’s define what Democratic Socialism actually is. It’s not a cute term that conveniently can become whatever you want it to be. On the contrary, it’s simply Communism. If you read what the DSA (Democratic Socialists of America) advocates for, it discusses seizing the means of production, government-run grocery stores, and, fundamentally, everything our Nation is against.
The term Democratic Socialist is used as an entry-point. They lull you to sleep and fool you into believing they still believe in the Constitution and democracy as a whole, and that they just want Socialism to be applied correctly for the first time in history. Because of course, Zohran Mamdani is such a genius that he’s different from every other Socialist dictator in history. When in reality, the endpoint is exactly the same as every other socialist nation. Dictatorship and ruin.
The rise of Communism in the Democratic Party is not just a problem for the Democrats; it’s a problem for everyone in America. We’ve seen Bill Maher, Van Jones, and John Fetterman, among others, come out recently voicing their concerns over this rising radicalism in their party.
It appears that Democrats from the top to the bottom have two choices. Get on board, or get run over. Some have chosen to hop on the Communist train, but others have even floated leaving the party as a whole. Either way, having one of the two major political parties become full-fledged Communist is not healthy for our country.
Where did this come from, and most importantly, how do we stop it? The short answer is this is the reaction of young people who are rather lazy, who also feel genuinely hopeless for the future. There’s a valid reason for Gen-Z to feel pessimistic. As a member of Gen-Z, I can tell you my generation is the most polarized on the face of the Earth because of this.
The American Dream feels almost unattainable, with the median age of a first-time home buyer reaching 40 years old according to the National Association of Realtors. There are many reasons for this. Government overspending, illegal immigration, and unnecessary wars are chief among them. However, the answer is not Communism.
The Republican Party’s strategy when it comes to curbing this rise of Communism has been atrocious. Government spending continues to rise, the promise of mass deportations has fallen short, and we’ve found ourselves in yet another foreign entanglement. President Trump himself has also stated he wants to increase home prices for the older generation who worked hard for their homes, and not give us lazy kids an easy way out.
Now, I’m more than aware of the widespread laziness in my generation. However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t a serious problem here. If the future of our nation is being priced out of the American Dream, they become more radical. Our job isn’t just to get a cheap soundbite about Communism being stupid; it’s actually fixing it.
Deport all illegal aliens, not just the “criminals”, pass legislation prohibiting companies like BlackRock from buying up single-family homes, and perhaps Republicans should put their money where their mouth is when it comes to limiting government spending.
It’s time to wake up. It’s now commonplace for flat-out communist propaganda to be spouted out by leaders of the Democratic Party. It’s not just a platform; it’s now the platform. Republicans need to realize the threat at hand. Many Republican voters feel disenfranchised and as if the promises of their leaders are not being kept when it comes to fixing the problems mentioned earlier.
The pendulum can no longer swing back to the left like the past. If the current state of the Democratic Party takes power, the damage that will be inflicted will be so devastating that America will no longer be recognizable. Just look at the current state of New York City under Mamdani. The best way to curb this rise of radicalism is for Republicans to defeat them.
That means action is needed to win Gen-Z back over to what has made America the greatest nation on the face of the Earth. That way is Capitalism, not Communism. Gen-Z is looking for truth. We are going back to church; we’re looking for an escape from the facade of technology and social media, and we’re passionate. However, we need help curbing the radicals of our generation, and we need real action by our leaders to do so.
