U.S. Rep. Jerry Carl (R-Mobile) believes the first days of Donald Trump’s presidency will be very active, which he thinks is a good thing. The President-elect has been active since winning the 2024 election as he’s already announced all his choice to fill is Cabinet.
During a recent appearance on FM Talk 106.5’s “The Jeff Poor Show,” Carl discussed what he expects to see right after Trump is inaugurated.
“I think the first 90 days of Trump’s presidency, it’s going to be a head-spinner for those of us that watch politics, because a lot’s going to happen very, very fast,” Carl said.
Carl said Trump will have to work with Republicans in Congress to fund the government because he expect the current Congress to pass a continuing resolution before the end of the year to avoid a government shutdown.
“I will be shocked if they don’t carry that over into January or February,” he argued. “We’ve got the Farm Bill, which the Farm Bill just came out in the Senate, the Senate version of it, and none of the Republicans in the Senate side like it… Also we’ve got, then on top of that, you got 2025 budgeting. And on top of that, you got, you know, you need to get started on 2026 so, I mean, there’s a lot happening this month.”

Carl also believes Trump and Republicans will need to focus on bringing down energy costs.
“Don’t tell people, there’s a, you know, 6% inflation without telling what’s driving inflation,” he said. “Well, it’s always energy costs. In my mind, it’s always energy costs… You’ll see this House, really opening up to drilling, and at the same time, keep focusing on alternative energies. I don’t think that’s going to ever go away. The Republican Party won’t do away with that. We just don’t want to pour trillions dollars into something we’ve seen nothing from.”
