The Jacksonville State Gamecocks will play for a Conference USA title on Friday night with an absolutely massive matchup in a rematch against Kennesaw State.
It will be the Gamecocks’ attempt for a second straight conference title after winning last year before the departure of Rich Rodriguez, and new head coach Charles Kelly has them right back into the same spot.
Last week, it took a thrilling last-second field goal to defeat Western Kentucky 37-34 and get to an 8-4 record, as well as a 7-1 conference record. JSU quarterback Caden Creel threw for 209 yards and two touchdowns, and ran for 143 yards and a score to continue what has been a special season.
When the Owls and Gamecocks met several weeks ago, JSU won 35-26 and Creel ran for 127 yards and two scores, as well as a touchdown pass. He will have to try to repeat a similar performance if his team is going to defeat Kennesaw State again and claim the conference title.
The Gamecocks are at home and hosting the matchup, which will kick off at 6:00 p.m. CT and be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
