Ivey TV ad touts Alabama’s ban on Critical Race Theory, transgender sports — ‘They can try that in California’

Governor Kay Ivey’s reelection campaign released its fourth television advertisement of the 2022 Republican primary election cycle on Wednesday.

The 30-second spot features Ivey, a former educator, promoting the state’s ban on Critical Race Theory-based teachings and transgender athletes in K-12 public schools.

“When I taught school, we said a prayer, pledged allegiance, and taught the basics,” says Ivey in the ad. “Today, the left teaches kids to hate America – but not here. Biden’s Critical Race Theory is racist, wrong and dead as a doornail. Transgender sports – toast. They can try that in California. America is the greatest country in the world. Joe Biden may not get that, but here in Alabama, we always will.”

Watch:

In a statement announcing the TV ad, Ivey campaign manager William Califf declared that Alabama’s 54th chief executive was the nation’s “most conservative” governor.

“Governor Ivey is a defender of Alabama values and the most conservative Governor in the country,” proclaimed Califf. “The reason for Ivey’s enthusiastic support among Alabama voters is they know that in her they have a fighter – a fighter who will stand up to the Biden Administration and the mainstream liberal media’s woke socialist agenda. As long as she remains at the helm, they can continue to ‘try that in California,’ but it won’t be happening here.”
