Gov. Kay Ivey, a former trumpet player in Auburn’s marching band, stopped by Tallassee High School today for its ribbon cutting. According to reports, she didn’t miss a beat when she had the chance to pick up the instrument again.
“I was honored to play the first note in Tallassee High School’s new band room,” Ivey said. “It was an exciting morning cutting the ribbon on the new Tallassee High School. In a week, students and educators will be walking these halls, and I can’t imagine a better way to start the academic year.
“I am proud to put the state’s support behind this state-of-the-art facility.”

Visitors to Ivey’s office at the capitol can even see the trumpet she played at Auburn.
