Individual arrested after smashing through door of Alabama TV station, proclaiming ‘I am God’

An individual is in custody after a dramatic daylight break-in at WKRG’s studios in Mobile, Alabama, on Wednesday.

A TV camera captured the entire incident, as a person utilized a tire iron and then bare hands to break through the glass door entrance to WKRG.

Luckily, that door only opens up to an empty lobby, with a separate security door and glass separating the lobby from the rest of the studios.

Mobile Police Department officers quickly arrived on scene and the person was taken into custody in the lobby after reportedly proclaiming, “I am God … I have the meaning of life.”

The individual was reportedly injured from the break-in, bleeding from breaking the glass. However, the arrest appeared to occur without incident after officers initially arrived with guns drawn but were able to deescalate the situation verbally.

Video footage of the incident showed that the individual’s hair is dyed a blue-green color; the person was wearing open-toed shoes and a face mask, along with a backpack.

WKRG reported that police “believe this person has mental health issues.”

The TV station thanked the officers for their response, which ensured no staff members were injured in the incident.
