House Speaker Mac McCutcheon endorses ‘strong conservative’ Gov. Kay Ivey for reelection

Thursday, Gov. Kay Ivey’s reelection campaign announced that it had earned the endorsement of Alabama House Speaker Mac McCutcheon (R-Monrovia).

In a statement announcing his endorsement of the incumbent governor, McCutcheon touted the economic success Alabama has experienced under Ivey’s administration.

“Kay Ivey is a strong, conservative Governor and a fantastic leader of our state,” proclaimed McCutcheon. “She and I have worked closely together for many years, and her goal has always remained the same – to improve the lives of Alabamians. She has created a resilient economy with tens of thousands of new jobs, and has fought for the conservative values that make Alabama a great place to live, work and raise a family.”

McCutcheon praised Ivey for her efforts to combat President Joe Biden’s “dangerous policies.”

“The Biden Administration has been a disaster – but Governor Ivey has fought its dangerous policies every step of the way, and has been successful in doing so,” added the retiring House speaker. “The liberal culture wars that have aimed to divide Americans and tear us apart – she’s kept all of that out of Alabama. And I have full confidence that, no matter what Biden tries to throw at states like Alabama, we have a Governor in Kay Ivey who will make sure that he is unsuccessful.”

He concluded, “Governor Ivey will continue to grow our economy, improve our children’s education, and fight for the values that we hold dear – and for those reasons I am proud to support her reelection.”

Ivey expressed her appreciation to McCutcheon for his endorsement of her reelection bid and praised his leadership in the legislature’s lower chamber.

“I thank Speaker McCutcheon for his endorsement today. He is a true servant of the Alabama people, and our state has benefited tremendously from his leadership,” said the governor. “Our state is breaking records every day. We’ve created over 50,000 new jobs, over $25 billion in new business investment and have the lowest unemployment rate in our state’s history. We passed the strongest pro-life bill in the nation, strengthened our election security, we’ve banned transgender sports and we’ve banned Critical Race Theory from being taught in our schools.”

Alabama’s chief executive pledged to continue her efforts to shield the state from the Biden administration’s political agenda.

“Here in Alabama, we don’t listen to Washington, D.C. liberals,” declared Ivey. “I’ve made sure of it and will continue to make sure the Biden administration and blue state liberals stay out of the great state of Alabama. I am proud of our state’s accomplishments, and we’re just getting started. I will always defend Alabama values and fight for what’s right.”

Voters will head to the polls to cast their ballots in the primary election on May 24, 2022.
