ATHLETE FACTORIES: Here are Alabama’s top 25 high school sports programs

Niche.com, a site that seeks to “make choosing a neighborhood, college, or K-12 school a more transparent process” by “providing reviews and insight from everyday experts,” released its list of top high school sports programs in the state of Alabama.

The 2016 Best High School Sports ranking provides a comprehensive assessment of the sports and fitness of a public high school. This grade takes into account key factors such as the number of sports offered, the participation rates of students in athletics, as well as student and parent reviews, in an attempt to measure the quality of sports offered by the school.

Niche’s analysis showed that Mountain Brook High School in Mountain Brook, Ala., has the best overall program. The school’s athletic department has an overall parent rating of 4.5 out of five, a male athletic participation rate of 36.7 percent, a female athletic participation rate of 32 percent, a $12,613 cost per student, and has 21 different sports.
