Guest: Doug Jones’ pro-abortion record earns him support from extremist radicals on the left

Rep. Debbie Wood

“What a stupid question.”

That was the callous response that Sen. Doug Jones gave when asked if he would support a federal law banning abortion after five months.

Consider that for a moment.

When confronted with a serious question about the wholesale murder of unborn life, Jones gave a flippant answer and laughed while he did it. That alone should outrage social conservatives and all who hold a pro-life view.

But an in-depth look at Jones’ liberal record on abortion issues reveals his offensive response should surprise no one. Since joining the U.S. Senate, and even prior, Jones has sided down-the-line with Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi and others in the most liberal fringe of the Democrat Party.

While running for his Senate seat in 2017, Jones appeared on MSNBC’s “Meet The Press Daily,” and indicated to host Chuck Todd that he supports abortion up until the moment of birth.

“I want to make sure that people understand that once a baby is born, I’m going to be there for that child. That’s where I become a right to lifer,” Jones said

And true to his word, he has opposed every bill that would prohibit late-term abortions from taking place.

In both 2018 and 2020, Jones voted against the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which would have prohibited abortions in cases where the probable age of the fetus is 20 weeks or later and imposed criminal penalties on doctors who violate the ban.

The measure would have also required a second doctor trained in neonatal resuscitation to be present for abortions in which the fetus has the potential to survive outside the womb.

Additionally, in 2019, he helped his leftist allies kill a bill that would have ended taxpayer-funded abortions by banning the use of federal funds for such procedures.

His strong pro-abortion record earned Jones recognition and congratulations from the extremist National Abortion Rights Action League, whose website documents 36 separate Senate votes Jones has cast in support of the abortion industry and against the unborn.

Jones cast these votes time and time again despite concrete evidence that the citizens of his state did not agree with his position.

Perhaps the strongest indicator of his constituents’ strong support for protecting the unborn occurred in 2018 when 60% of voters ratified a statewide constitutional amendment declaring Alabama a “pro-life” state.

Passage of the ballot measure, which is now Amendment 933 in the 1901 Constitution of Alabama, will end abortion within our borders as soon as the U.S. Supreme Court overturns the abomination known as Roe v. Wade.

It is time for Alabama to elect a U.S. Senator who will respect and represent the beliefs, principles and desires of the Alabamians he seeks to serve.

It is time for Alabama to elect a U.S. Senator who will defend the unborn and work to end abortion-on-demand.

It is time for Alabama to elect Coach Tommy Tuberville to the U.S. Senate.

When the Alabama Legislature and Gov. Kay Ivey enacted the “Human Life Protection Act,” which remains the nation’s strongest pro-life statute, Tuberville voiced his strong and enthusiastic support.

“We’ve killed 60 million babies in the last 45 years – 60 million. I mean, what the heck is going on? People need to open their eyes and just think a little bit about what we’re doing. We’re supposed to be a civilized country,” Tuberville said at the time.

He has also pledged his support for the federal “Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act,” which mandates that a baby born alive during an abortion must be afforded the same degree of care that would apply to any other child delivered at the same gestational age.

Tuberville’s strong support for the unborn has earned him the endorsement of the National Right to Life, our country’s largest pro-life advocacy group, and the Susan B. Anthony List, another prominent organization seeking to stop abortion practices.

Each day that Doug Jones is allowed to remain in the U.S. Senate, more and more unborn lives are lost. We must put an end to the murder.

On November 3, I will proudly cast my ballot for a committed pro-life fighter, Coach Tommy Tuberville, and I strongly encourage everyone who cares about protecting the unborn to do the same.
