Gubernatorial candidate Lindy Blanchard touts Trump appointment, talks education in campaign’s first video

Gubernatorial candidate Lindy Blanchard on Wednesday released her campaign’s first video promoting her candidacy to serve as the state’s chief executive.

Blanchard earlier this week officially ended her candidacy for the U.S. Senate and entered the 2022 Alabama governor’s race, issuing a primary challenge to Gov. Kay Ivey.

The candidate is running as a “conservative outsider,” which is the title of her campaign’s promotional video.

The video begins with Blanchard detailing the early stages of her life, during which she touches on her upbringing and business career.

“I worked two jobs just to get ahead, trimming trees to just afford Christmas presents,” says Blanchard, adding that she and her husband Johnny “married young, starting our family first. Then, after saving every penny, we built a successful real estate business.”

She touches on losing her eldest son to opioid addiction. Blanchard says the tragedy led her family to launch international service-oriented organizations to assist those in need.

“It became my life’s mission to save lives and help others,” she advises. “We built orphanages and rehabs in 16 different countries, adopting five beautiful kids,” further reinforcing her pro-life stance.

The video goes on to tout her U.S. ambassadorship to which she was appointed by former President Donald Trump to serve as the nation’s chief diplomat to Slovenia, former first lady Melania Trump’s home country.

In outlining her campaign’s platform, Blanchard says she will utilize her “business experience to create jobs, end vaccine and mask mandates and restore election security.”

Her campaign noted that Blanchard over the years has established and supported schools both in Alabama and abroad, further stating her intentions to focus on education as governor.

She adds, “Alabama ranks dead last in education. Our children deserve so much better.”

The video concludes with a voice-over stating, “A leader driven by faith, trusted by President Trump, conservative outsider – Republican Lindy Blanchard for governor.”
