On the fourth episode of the “Grand Old Podcast,” hosted by ALGOP Chairman Scott Stadthagen, Allison Sinclair and Amie Beth Shaver share their story about the creation of their first podcast, how they eventually became owners of “The Rightside,” and what has influenced their political journey.
“We met in the Kohl’s parking lot, and she came up to me and she was like, ‘I really feel like the Lord’s calling us to do a podcast together.’ And I just, I think I laughed out loud because I had never, which when I get nervous, that’s what I do,” Sinclair said.
“But I had never even thought about that. I mean, I’ve always been involved in policy and the campaigning. I’ve got an engineering degree. I’m not media, but like I tell my kids, I’m like, even if you’re scared, even if you question it, well, as long as it’s not illegal, like say yes, just go down that road and see what happens.”
Yellowhammer News announced a brand partnership with Rightside Media earlier this year to elevate Rightside Radio from one of Alabama’s premier conservative, traditional radio talk shows into a digital-first powerhouse.
Host and Rightside Media co-owner, Allison Sinclair, known for never shying away from tough conversations, provides listeners with a witty, personable, and opinion-driven analysis of politics, culture, and current events.
“It has been a roller coaster,” Sinclair said. “It has been a ton of fun, and I think what is kind of goes back to the beginning and what we were talking about of being on this side of questions, the beauty of where we are in life, and after you walk through some tough things, I mean, we both have been through some really personally hard things over the past few years. You got nothing to lose. You just go out and you do it, and if it all ends tomorrow, we’re fine with that. God has called us and put us here, and we have a blast.”
Amie Beth Shaver, co-owner of Rightside Media and “The Rightside” host, is a former Miss Alabama, a political commentator, professional speaker, and opinion writer who refuses to whisper in a culture that rewards silence.
“Those things that you know in your life that make absolutely no sense, except they do, and that’s kind of where we are,” Shaver said. “Is we think this is wild, and so now you know. And Allison’s really good about calling people, so we’ve had guests that you think this doesn’t make any sense that these people would go. Oh, sure, we’ll come on. That’s the freedom”
