Governor Ivey named seventh most-popular governor in the U.S. and top in the southeast by Morning Consult

Governor Kay Ivey was recognized in a recent survey by Morning Consult, one of America’s most respected research and intelligence firms, as the seventh most popular governor in the nation and the most favored in the entire southeast.

The source gave Ivey an impressive job approval rating of 63% with a disapproval rating of around 32%. The remainder polled with few exceptions said they didn’t have an opinion on the Alabama Governor.

“Kay Ivey’s tenure as governor has been transformational for Alabama, and she appreciates the people of our state’s continued support,” a spokesperson for Governor Ivey said. “It has been said there is no challenge Governor Ivey does not take on, and I can assure you she will maintain a bold agenda over the next two-plus years in the Governor’s Office. From rebuilding Alabama’s roads and bridges to passing the nation’s best school choice bill, Governor Ivey has delivered big wins for Alabama and that is certainly continuing going forward.”

The company said that it is the only source in the country that provides a “comprehensive look” at the popularity of America’s state officials from all 50 states.

“Our definitive rankings of America’s most and least popular governors provide the exceedingly rare apples-to-apples, cross-country comparison of governors’ relative popularity among their own voter base, including by political affiliation, age, race, and educational attainment.”

Rankings are dictated by the highest approval rating, with net approval — the share who approve minus the share who disapprove — used to break ties.

America’s most popular governor was listed as Phil Scott (R-Vermont). Scott garnered an 81% job approval rating. On the other end of the spectrum, the country’s least popular governor was Kim Reynolds (R-Iowa). She received a 48% disapproval rating from residents of her state.
