Governor Robert Bentley underwent minor hernia repair surgery in Tuscaloosa Tuesday morning.
The hernia was found at an early stage of development. The 70-year-old governor chose to have the procedure performed before his upcoming economic development trip to Japan. The governor’s office said the outpatient surgery was done laparoscopically and was a success.
Governor Bentley is recovering in Tuscaloosa and is expected to continue his working schedule within 24 hours. His office said the governor should return to Montgomery in the next few days.
