Jordan Doufexis, a native of Rainsville, has made a career in politics from his Alabama roots, to become a key figure in U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville’s political ascent. Recently named Chief of Staff for the state’s senior senator, Doufexis’ journey is a story of hard work, community, and a commitment to making an impact on a national level.
Doufexis, of Greek descent, was born and raised in Rainsville surrounded by a loving family, his parents Shelton and Taseia Monroe, sisters Rachel Moore and Reah Roberts, grandparents Bill and Gale Doufexis, and godparents Jimmy and Rosie Wells. He graduated from Plainview High School in 2002 before attending Northeast Alabama Community College and later the University of Alabama. Even in his early years, his leadership potential was evident as he co-founded Southern Torch, a local media outlet, and became a partner in the Go Native delivery service.
Doufexis began his political career by managing local campaigns for figures like Tyler Wilks, Dr. Jason Barnett, and Circuit Judge Andrew Hairston. Barnett was elected as Superintendent of DeKalb County Schools and presently serves as Guntersville City Schools Superintendent. Barnett stated, “I was overcome with pride when I learned that Jordan was promoted to Sen. Tommy Tuberville’s Chief of Staff. As a lifelong friend, I know the values, integrity, grit, and fight that Jordan carries into the job to serve and fight for not only North Alabama but also the entire nation. Jordan’s exceptional talent and unwavering dedication to representing our values and morals ensure that our local community’s values will be heard and respected in shaping government policy across our great nation.”
In 2013, he founded the Young Republicans of Northeast Alabama, which led to his election as Vice Chairman of the Alabama Young Republicans and his later appointment as Communications Director for the National Young Republican Federation in 2016.
Doufexis married a local girl, Ashley Stanford of Fyffe, and they have worked together on several business and political projects over the years. They have two wonderful children, Andi Sofi a (6) and Maximus Appollo (2).
Doufexis gained national attention when he and his wife, Ashley Stanford, received the Gold Medallion from the National Association of Secretaries of State for their work on the Southeastern Coalition (SEC) Primary. Their efforts unified southern states into a single primary date, ensuring presidential candidates prioritized visits to historically overlooked regions like Alabama.
Doufexis served in two presidential campaigns, working for U.S. Senator Mitt Romney and U.S. Senator Marco Rubio. But, Doufexis’ career has involved more than politics. In 2013, he introduced live and online streaming for DeKalb County, including the reality show Heat Check, which highlighted the rise of Plainview Bears basketball under Coach Robi Coker. Coach Coker spoke of Doufexis, saying, “ I can’t think of a more deserving individual. He has a unique ability to not only get things done but to bring people together. With his love for our country coupled with his conservative values, he will do an incredible job serving our state.”
During the COVID-19 pandemic, he and Ashley collaborated with over 50 local businesses to develop the Go Native app, providing on-demand delivery services that supported the community while creating jobs.
Doufexis has served Sen. Tuberville in various senior roles, including Deputy Chief of Staff and State Director. Over the past four years, he has played an integral role in shaping the Senator’s office and the people of Alabama.
Now, as Chief of Staff, Doufexis will oversee the Senator’s legislative agenda, guide his team, and continue to manage Tuberville’s campaign efforts.
Ashley shared her thoughts about her husband’s success with Yellowhammer News. She stated, “Jordan stands out in Washington not just because he’s a ‘Greek redneck from Sand Mountain’ as he proudly likes to say any chance he gets. But he can bring people together, inspire action, and make tough calls—often with his signature blend of boldness and humility. Our family is thrilled to celebrate this next chapter, and we’re grateful to see his hard work and dedication recognized in such a meaningful way. There’s no one better suited to lead and represent Alabama with integrity, vision, and grit.”
