BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — A new ranking by Forbes Magazine lists Alabama-based Regions as one of the best employers in the nation alongside the University of Alabama and the rest of the United States’ top companies and public institutions.
Regions Financial Corporation, headquartered in downtown Birmingham, employs 24,255 people nationwide and came in at No. 308 on the list. Regions Bank branches can be found all across the Southeast, and as far north as Illinois, and Iowa.
The University of Alabama, which employs nearly 5,000 faculty and staff members, came in even higher at No. 58.
To assemble the list, Forbes surveyed more than 20,000 employees at some of the nation’s largest employers to find out if they would recommend their company to a friend.
Here are the top 10 employers on this year’s list:
1. Google
2. Costco
3. Marathon Petroleum
4. The Container Store
5. LL Bean
6. Baxter International
7. BMW Group
8. Shaw Industreies
9. Wegmans Food Markets
10. Harley Davidson.
Other notable entrants on the list include Apple (No. 55), Harvard (No. 77), NASA (No. 98), Starbucks (No. 100), Disney (No. 110) and Caterpillar (No. 248).
