Flash flood makes Alabama’s Noccalula Falls look more like Niagara Falls (Video)

Noccalula Falls, located in Gadsden, Alabama, is one of the Yellowhammer State’s numerous natural wonders. The 90-foot waterfall and surrounding park attract visitors from all over the country.

A bronze statue of Noccalula, a young Cherokee woman, who according to local legend jumped to her death after her father forced her to marry a man she didn’t love, overlooks the falls. The water flow varies between a trickle and a roar, depending on the amount of rain.

The local area received as much as 20 inches of rainfall in a single day over the weekend, making Noccalula Falls look more like Niagara Falls and attracting large crowds.
