The Alabama Crimson Tide has not gotten off to quite exactly the start fans would have wanted in this first season of the Kalen DeBoer era after a shocking loss to Vanderbilt followed up by some poor performances and another loss to Tennessee.
But headed into the bye week at 6-2 with still a decent chance to qualify for the College Football Playoff, some talking heads in the media would have you believe that things are worse off than they actually are, and nobody loves an Alabama loss more than the mouth of the South himself, Paul Finebaum.
During an appearance with On3, Finebaum broke down exactly what he though the issue is with the man who took over for the greatest to ever do it:
Paul Finebaum on Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer:
"He hasn't commanded the stage very well… His demeanor on the sidelines bugs people, his lack of discipline, some of the things that he says and does…
It's really going to come down to next week." pic.twitter.com/O2zZGKSbSG

“I’m very surprised,” Finebaum said when asked about his level of concern surrounding the way the team has performed so far this year. “The DeBoer transition was seamless outside of a few players leaving…he’s a good coach but I don’t think he’s commanded the stage very well…there’s a level of impatience with him [from fans], his demeanor on the sidelines bugs people, his lack of discipline, some of the things that he says and does.”
Finebaum did qualify the fact that DeBoer will have a chance to shut down all the negative talk if the Tide can win at LSU after the bye, but the pressure is certainly on.
“It’s really going to come down to next week…should he lose, that game will determine what we say about him in the offseason. I am not that impressed so far.”
