The fifth annual Lutzie 43 Golf Invitational is set to be held on Thursday, May 6, at Pursell Farms’ beautiful Farmlinks Golf Club in Sylacauga.
Celebrity guest golfers will reportedly include Auburn head football coach Bryan Harsin and Director of Athletics Allen Greene.
The Lutzie 43 Foundation, in partnership with Kia Motors, Kia of LaGrange, Kia of Auburn and Julia Jones Kia, is hosting the event. Teams will compete in an 18-hole scramble-style golf tournament. Golfers will enjoy lunch on the course and an exclusive dinner after the tournament.
The dinner is set to feature celebrity guests such as Fox Sports’ Tom Rinaldi and ESPN’s Rece Davis. Attendees will also enjoy a dinner presentation from Mike Lutzenkirchen, executive director of the Lutzie 43 Foundation and other speakers. Additionally, the foundation’s PFL Scholarship recipients will be announced, followed by a Fireside Chat with celebrity guests Rinaldi, Davis and Harsin.
The event helps raise funds to support the mission and programs of the Lutzie 43 Foundation. The foundation was established in loving memory of Philip Lutzenkirchen, and aims to end distracted and impaired driving crashes and fatalities through the 43 Key Seconds safe driving initiative.
A former Auburn football player, Philip Lutzenkirchen tragically lost his life in a car accident in 2014. In his memory, the 43 Key Seconds initiative aims to create the first nationally-recognized symbol for distracted and impaired driving awareness and prevention. The foundation’s motto for youth is to “Live like Lutz, Love like Lutz, and Learn from Lutz,” reflecting its desire to help others live out the many positive character attributes that Philip displayed while learning from the circumstances that led to his death.
