According to a recent poll commissioned by FarmPAC, the Alabama Farmers Federation’s (ALFA) political arm, Gov. Kay Ivey holds a commanding lead over the 2022 Republican gubernatorial primary field.
The FarmPAC poll, conducted February 2-6 with 600 likely GOP voters via live phone calls, shows the incumbent governor holding more than a 43-percentage point advantage over her nearest competitor.
According to the poll, Ivey enjoys 54.7% of support among the Republican electorate. Businessman Tim James garnered 11.45% of the vote, while 9.79% of respondents chose former U.S. ambassador to Slovenia Lindy Blanchard as their candidate of preference. The poll also found 21.89% of the poll’s participants were undecided.
Ivey, James and Blanchard were the only candidates that received at least 2% of support.
The poll included all candidates who qualified with the Alabama Republican Party to appear on its upcoming May 24, 2022, primary election ballot.
