CHARLOTTE, North Carolina — Taylor Swift, the country star turned pop mogul, has a huge following among music fans, but is probably most beloved by the thousands of young girls who flock to her concerts every year. This Monday a group of girls from Montgomery were invited backstage at a Charlotte, North Carolina show to meet Swift in what might turn out to be one of the most unforgettable nights of their lives.

The group of six middle-schoolers were decked out in bright tutus and tank tops with their favorite lyrics from Taylor Swift’s most recent album, 1989. Their goal was to standout from the crowed enough to get noticed and selected to come back stage to “Loft 89,” an exclusive VIP hangout the pop megastar hosts at each of her tour stops.

“The girls knew what Loft 89 was and knew that Taylor’s mom picked people to meet her, so they planned their outfits to get ‘noticed,'” Alecia Brightwell, one of the girls’ moms, told Yellowhammer Wednesday. “They started getting ready at 10 that morning, and we went to the arena at 4. During Taylor’s performance of ‘All you had to do was Stay’ her mom came up to them and started dancing. After the song was over, she asked if they had ever met Taylor and if they wanted to go to Loft 89 and meet her. The girls screamed, cried and accepted the wristbands.

“After the show was over we went backstage. Taylor’s first words to them were ‘Oh my goodness, it’s little children in neon!’ She spent time with each of them and signed their shirts. She was so sweet to each of them giving them all several hugs and comforting the ones that were crying because they were so overwhelmed. She asked if she could adopt them and they all screamed ‘YES!'”

Brightwell posted several pictures of the girls, and their other chaperones with the tall blonde songstress backstage.

“The whole experience was unbelievable,” said Brightwell “One of the ironic parts is all of this happened on National Best Friends Day. Taylor talked about it during the show and these girls are best friends met a new best friend in Taylor. She told them all Happy Best friends day at some point backstage.”

Tickets to the 1989 World Tour are some of the most difficult to come by this summer, often selling out in each city Swift visits. The cheapest seats for Monday’s concert were $191 each, but these Alabama girls’ experience was probably priceless for them.
