Energy Southeast announces retirement of longstanding leader Lisa Miller

Energy Southeast announced the retirement of Lisa Miller, manager of external affairs, after her 37-year career in public power and 19-year career dedicating service to Energy Southeast and its 11 cities.

Miller joined Energy Southeast in 2007 as director of communications. She also served as manager of communications and marketing and manager of communications and economic development before assuming the role of manager of external affairs in 2024.

In this role, she oversaw the agency’s strategic communications and marketing initiatives, economic and community development programs, and governmental affairs activities.

In her career, Miller advocated for public power and built strong relationships with organizations, including the Alabama Department of Commerce, Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs and Business Council of Alabama, among many others.

She has been a driving force in helping Energy Southeast’s members and their economic development organizations build and sustain vibrant, economically strong communities through programs such as the Energy Southeast Economic Development Grant Program and the Energy Southeast Capital Fund Program.

Her leadership has been recognized with numerous accolades, including the Alabama Communities of Excellence Star Outstanding Leadership Award, Main Street Alabama’s Alice Bowsher Leadership Award and communications awards from national and statewide public power associations.

Miller’s dedication, leadership and passion for community development have made a lasting impact on both the organization and its member communities.

A native of Alexander City, Alabama, Miller earned a B.A. in public relations/journalism from Auburn University. She and her husband, Mike, live in Prattville, where she has served on several boards and remains actively involved in community life.
