Eli Gold, former voice of the Alabama Crimson Tide, will have another gig at the college level starting very soon.
While news broke last week that Gold would soon be calling games for the Arena Football League’s Nashville Kats, Gold stated this morning on 105.5 WNSP’s The Opening Kickoff that he’s agreed to a deal with a university as well — but that he could not yet reveal who.
Gold will remain in the Yellowhammer State and has been hired at Jacksonville State University to take over television duties for Gamecock baseball games.
For now, Gold will be focusing solely on baseball with his first JSU broadcast in less than two weeks on March 19 in a Gamecock home game against Samford.

As he told AL.com, the plan is for Gold to eventually take on duties for more JSU sports including football, which could begin this fall.
“I’m looking forward to it. I’ve known the people at JSU for many years. I’m looking forward to working with (athletic director) Greg Seitz. They’ve made some very nice strides here recently, winning a bowl game last year and so on,” Gold said.
