After one year of service as staff writer for Yellowhammer News, Dylan Smith has been selected to lead Yellowhammer Multimedia’s flagship website as editor.
The announcement was made on Monday by Allison Ross, the owner and publisher of Yellowhammer Multimedia, who asserted that Smith leading the news site’s editorial team would enable the outlet to expand upon its position as a leader in Alabama media.
“It has been apparent since Dylan first joined the team that he has a natural instinct for what matters to the people of Alabama,” said Ross. “In a very short time he has created a vast network throughout the state, a network that informs and fosters his ability to create content people care about. Above all, the integrity and work ethic behind his approach made him the perfect leader to take this brand to the next level.”
Smith, 27, advised that the outlet would continue to execute its mission of being the most reliable source of information for Alabama news consumers.
“Over the years, Yellowhammer has positioned itself as Alabama’s premier news source by reporting the issues that the citizenry cares about,” noted Smith. “We look forward to further elevating our dynamic coverage as reader consumption of news continues to evolve in the ever-changing media landscape.”
“Yellowhammer has extraordinarily talented content creators that bring dependable coverage and intriguing analysis to readers on a daily basis,” he added. “Alabamians deserve nothing less than accurate and informative news, and that’s precisely what we intend to continue delivering.”
Smith, an eighth-generation Alabamian and resident of Scottsboro, first entered the journalism industry in 2020 as founding managing editor of a local news outlet in Jackson County. He previously served as a contributor for The Daily Caller.
His reporting at Yellowhammer News has been featured on Fox News Digital, National Review, Breitbart and Washington Examiner, among other publications.
